Posted by Huckittome on TNet. I was already working on it but this saves me time. Tyler Shatley was brought in as DT, but at 260 is too small for the position, and wouldnt get much PT even at 300lbs, so they say. He could either backup or play FB, and I currently believe he'll slim down for FB. Terrance Ashe is not yet on Scholarship. Let me know if there are glaring mistakes.

A. Murchison is leaving the team and that scholarship becomes free, so I'm taking him off the table. He is technically on scholarship and will stay for spring to get his degree, but the lack of PT is apparently the main factor. He surely would've gotten more this year though. This loss makes it harder for us at DT and someone will be moved over. Shatley may be forced to stick at DT and bulk up.

  1. I think Rennie Moore is a redshirt Sophomore, and he is listed in the table as a RS junior. My guess is that he moves inside because the depth at DE is stacked (10 players vying for 2 spots) while the depth at DT is thin (5 players vying for two spots). Also, I could see someone moving to offensive tackle because if Jay and Thomas redshirt (which I believe they will), then you only have three guys in the rotation at tackle. Maybe McLain moves back and competes with Walker at RT?

  2. Yeah, Rennie should be a RS Soph. Drew Traylor is a scout-team player and won't ever see the field, while Darrell Smith will almost certainly redshirt this year because of his low weight and could be moved to TE.

  3. In the post down the page you have McClain at Tackle, even if Walker and Hairston play 95% of the snaps on offense they'll have to have another over there to have a 2-deep.

It does make me worry about injury at OT though.

  4. Jamal Medlin is listed in the 2-deep at OT, so I'll move him there. McClain played both OG and OT this past year by my recollection.

  5. DrB,

Nothing against him, but I do not see Medlin getting a ton of snaps. McClain seems to be the one who is most likely to move over to tackle, since that is where he started, but I was under the impression they wanted the best five on the field, and I think McClain is one of the best five. Who knows? The OL was horrible last year, but I am optimistic that it will be a strength of the team over the next few years as Cloy, Walker, McClain, Freeman, Page, Saunders, Jay, Smith, and Thomas all work through the system. All of them were pretty highly rated, and they will all be Freshman and Sophomores next year. Also, I think we are going back to a three-point stance!

  6. Dr. B...

if you use first initial rather than the whole first name, the chart shrinks some.
