Mickey Plyler's blog on TNet highlights a few players who I thought were already in the Clemson Hall of Fame, after this weeks inductions. Take a look over the official list here and give us your thoughts.
How is Raymond Priester, one of my favorite Clemson players, not in there?
Terry Allen?
Rod Gardner?
TZach got busted for smoking (and selling) weed, so did T. Smith I think, and Flowers roughed up a co-ed once while in school, which you may not recall. I can't think of reasons why some of our other best aren't in there though.
For Christ's sake, Nelson Welch is in there. He who was automatic-under-30-but-problematic-over.
George Dostal, our Weight Program director in the early 80s who predicted we'd play in the Orange Bowl in 1981, isn't in there. This man is directly responsible for a lot of our success in the '80s, as he made sure (with Dollar Bill McLellan's support) we had the best weight facility at Jervey in the country at that time.

Priester - Why are we waiting?
ReplyDeleteTerry Allen - Why are we waiting?
Rod Gardner - The Catch II - 1st round pick - Why are we waiting?
Charlie - 4-0 vs. USC, led us to a win over #3 FSU, he should be in.
Zachary - like you said, he was busted for weed, and was kicked off the team at the end. Not HOF material in my book.
T. Bowden - Great guy, did some good things for Clemson, very respectible, but never measured up on the field. Not HOF material.
Justin Miller and Derrick Hamilton both left early, and were the best players we had on average teams. Miller - maybe in a few years, Hamilton - not HOF material.
I could see James Davis in a few years because he did do a lot for our team and program, but that is about it. In general, I don't think you should get in because of a record. Aaron Kelly set some extremely impressive records, but he did not look very impressive while he was setting them. Dropping the ball against BC is what will make the difference with him. Same with Cullen Harper. He set a bunch of records, and had some very good games (and one really good season), but I just don't see him as HOF material. Gaines Adams should be in, simply because he was taken something like 4th overall in the draft, and was an all-american.
ReplyDeleteFlagler, Flowers, Priester, Allen....come on.
ReplyDeleteTom Harper
ReplyDeleteBrentson Buckner or Chester McGlockton?
ReplyDeleteTom Harper should have a fucking statue in there beside Coach Ford.
